The Annunciation of Our Lady 'Extramural Anglicans' by Bishop Mercer CR Calendar of the Church - August 2010 Church News from Home & Abroad Traditional Anglicanism - Transforming Lives in Jesus Christ

In the firm conviction that "we shall be saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ," and that "there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved," and acknowledging our duty to proclaim Christ's saving Truth to all peoples, nations and tongues, we declare our intention to hold fast the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Faith of God.
We acknowledge that rule of faith laid down by St. Vincent of Lerins: "Let us hold that which has been believed everywhere, always and by all, for that is truly and properly Catholic."  From the Preface to the Anglican Congress of S. Louis......

Maybe you are looking for a Church home that offers community, fellowship and certainty in an uncertain world.  Possibly you are an Anglican unable to make sense of women priests, churches without altars and informal worship.  You may just be curious about what Christianity offers.

Regardless, the Anglican Catholic Church offers traditional Christianity - faithfulness to the Word of God, obedience to the Councils and traditions of the Catholic and Apostolic Church and the beauty and compassion that has always marked English or Anglican Christianity.

Annunciation of Our Lady Mission  of the Anglican Catholic Church is part of the continuum of traditional Anglicans who maintain fidelity to the Catholic, Apostolic and scripturally authentic Anglican Christian faith, with a focus on sharing the Gospel of Christ's love with the people of Tasmania.

Since 1978, Anglican Churches in the US, New Zealand, Canada, Australia and in the heartland of the Church of England rejected almost 2000 years of Christian belief held until then universally by Orthodox Christians, Roman Catholics and Anglicans and ordained women "priests". Some diocese of the Canterbury Communion recently have ordained non-celibate gay priests, and now women "bishops".

Orthodox Anglicans  understood that these liberal and non-Scriptural innovations contradicted the received Christian faith and hopelessly set back ecumenical relations with our Eastern and Western brothers and sisters.

Preserving Anglicanism for future generations, four brave and loyal Anglican bishops in 1978  rejected heresy and consecrated new bishops.  In doing so they maintained the Apostolic succession of bishops, priests and deacons, and canonical order of Anglicanism, now found in the Anglican Catholic Church, (ACC) throughout the world, and in the US within the Anglican Province of Christ the King (APCK) and United Episcopal Church of North America (UECNA).

Our Mission in Hobart is new - and is committed to creating a Christian community that is full of the compassion of the good Samaritan.  Our worship is traditional and yet simple, centred in prayer to the Triune God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit, inspired by the prayers and lives of the saints of old, and enriched by the inspiring worldwide family that is continuing Anglican Catholicism throughout the world.

We are a joyful, Christ-centred spiritual community, under our Bishop, Brian Iverach, our Metropolitan,Archbishop Mark Haverland, and our Assistant Bishop, Denis in New Zealand. We worship primarily using the  Book of Common Prayer, King James (Authorized) Bible, with traditional hymns, contemporray preaching, and a sharing of the timeless love of God for humanity. Contemporary preaching - classic liturgy - outreach to all - these are the hallmarks of the ACC.

We are focused on planting new churches for Jesus Christ, on sharing the Christian faith and living joyfully in fellowship.  With Anglican Aid Abroad many faithful are giving to missions in Africa, Central America, India, Pakistan, rebuilding churches in Haiti, supporting communities and looking outside our own immediate needs.

Within Australia, it's true that the Canterbury Communion liberal Anglicans have kept the beautiful Gothic churches and most of our congregations are worshipping in halls and smaller facilities.  The Christian Gospel is a Gospel of truth and fidelity and love  - and while we'd like to regain those properties, we're not hung up on them.

What we are focused on in the Living Saviour - Christ our God, and fidelity to His Gospel.  We're focused on the Word of God - the Holy Bible and the sacraments that convey grace and life - the Eucharist or Holy Communion, Baptism, Confirmation - the transmission of the gifts of the Holy Ghost, Confession, the sacrament of God's forgiveness, Unction - the sacrament of healing and Matrimony - the union of man and woman before God.

Please, join us for prayer, for worship, for the sacraments, for the sharing of the Word of God, and help us make a Christian community of faith and hope and love in Tasmania. We are family focused, committed to sharing and being a mission grounded in the Gospel, in service and servanthood before God. Join us on Sundays at 9 a.m. for worship that is traditional, Scriptural and filled with the Spirit of the Living God.

Sunday Services - services are suspended until further notice.  Please contact Bishop Iverach direct for mission updates and pastoral care on 02 9011 7196

for I am meek and lowly of heart
and ye shall find rest for your souls. Matt. xi.29
