BAWS is a community organisation that helps to create a stronger relationship within Australian communities and has been providing support to new Bangladeshi and other immigrants in Australia who are experiencing financial hardship.

BAWS has also been financially supporting different charity organisations in Bangladesh for voluntarily arranging funeral expenses of the homeless people in Bangladesh.

BAWS a social organisation is aiming to bridge the gap between different ethnic and cultural background Australians by building a common platform between the different social segments. Australia being a multicultural country with a combination of people from more than 200 nations, harmonious relation between the people is the precondition for a stable and prosperous nation where everybody can contribute to "Advance Australia Fair".

In order to build a better future for us and our future generation, common harmony between different ethnic society is the top priority and this will alleviate the future relations between all the people living in our society. A perfect blend between different segment of Australian society will benefit the nation as a whole.

Bangladeshi Australian Welfare Society Inc (BAWS) is going to celebrate "Bangladeshi Independence Day 2012" called "Bangla Loko Mela 2012" 24th March 2011 (Saturday) at Seddon Park, Glenfield, NSW 2563. This event plays a vital role in highlighting Bangladeshi community among the multicultural Australian Society. This is a recreational programme, where a large number of people of Bangladeshi Community together with other communities participate from Greater Sydney Area and also from other Australian cities.

This is a whole day celebration with number of events as traditional food festival, music, cultural activities and others. It is a great opportunity for Local and Bangladeshi Business Houses to promote them or their products in the community. In relation to that, BAWS will provide stalls, posters, banners and will encourage distributing leaflets in the fair.

Bangladesh is proud to be the only nation fought for the right to speak it's mother language which eventually lead towards the independence war in 1971. The victory of this Liberation War was the sacrifice of 3 million Bangladeshis. In recognition to the sacrifice of Bangladeshi people for their own language, United Nations has declared 21st of February as the International Language Day. On 21st February 1952, the students of Dhaka University in Bangladesh were killed while demonstrating for their right to speak in Bengali as the official language of the then East Pakistan.

BAWS has been providing support to new Bangladeshi and other immigrants in Australia who are in financial hardship. BAWS has also been financially supporting different charity organisations in Bangladesh for voluntarily arranging funeral expenses of the homeless people in Bangladesh.
