TAI CHI Yang Shi
TAI CHI Yang Shi is a friendly, locally based group dedicated to bringing the many benefits of genuine Chinese Tai Chi to the people of Rockingham. We also enjoy a range of social activities.
Beginners are taught in a separate class with other students who are also just starting.
The instructors are experienced and guide beginners through the movements one by one so that, over time, the sequence builds up into an enjoyable routine that can be practiced regularly.
THE ESSENCE OF TAI CHI
The essence of Tai Chi is harmony and balance. Balance between Yin and Yang, balance between soft and hard, balance between relaxation and firmness, balance between assertiveness and yielding. Seeking harmony in movement not only gives physical harmony throughout the whole body but also leads to mental, emotional and spiritual harmony, Achieving harmony and balance can have many health benefits but, most importantly, can help achieve happiness and contentment.
HOW DOES TAI CHI FUNCTION?
The continuous flowing movements of Tai Chi relax and strengthen your muscles and joints while also massaging and invigorating your internal organs. The mind-body co-ordination of Tai Chi brings physical and mental health and harmony. This enables one to relax and overcome stress.
WHAT IS AUTHENTIC YANG STYLE TAI CHI?
Yang Lu-Chan (1799-1872), known to many of the martial arts world as "Yang the Invincible", was the founder of the Yang Style form. His art was passed down through his family to his son, Yang Chein-Hou (1839-1917) and then to his grandson, Yang Cheng Fu (1883-1936). It was Yang Cheng Fu, one of China's great martial artists, that standardised the 85 movement form. It is this form that we teach today.
